Emma Wheat Gillmore became an Assistant Surgeon with the USPHS during World War I. Her husband, Robert Tracy Gillmore was a captain in the Medical Officers Reserve Corps at the time of his death. She named the Surgeon General of the Army as the executor of her will. After her death on August 15, 1948, Captain Victor B.
